Moving from Washington to LA was difficult for the family as they had limited money.

The reason was a financial drain: her parents had little to no money after moving to LA. They had to sell their home and reside in the mortel after her father lost his job.
Though Sydney blames herself for it to happen, her parents never feel she is responsible for all.
Even after the divorce, Steven frequently meets his family during the special event.
