Lewis Cope (born 1995) is an English actor known for playing the character of Nicky Milligan on Emmerdale. He has also appeared in some soap operas, including BBC’s Doctors and the ITV drama Vera.
Cope is from Hartlepool. He started his acting career on stage but, due to his dancing skills, made his appearance in Billy Elliot: The Musical on the West End at 11.
Shortly after, he got to know the street dance group Ruff Diamond and joined them. Later, he appeared in Sky’s Got To Dancer in 2013. Then, in the same year, Cope went to study drama.
But the true recognition came through Emmerdale. He remembers how nervous he was at the time of audition for Emmerdale. The first round was the self-tape, the second went with a screen test, and finally, Cope got Nicky Milligan.
When the scene aired in which Nicky and Caleb enter the Dingle family, it’s no news that Lewis Cope has become a fan-favorite.
Nicky Milligan first appeared in the soap Emmerdale in December 2022. Entering the Farm House, Nicky pretends to be a nanny and attempts to seduce Gabby Thomas, Kim’s grandson’s mother. The main motive is to grab the inheritance money.
Nicky is successful in his mission and ends up dating her and almost marrying her. But before the wedding, he admits that the relationship is only a lie and has no future as he is a guy.
Angry Gabby, with relatives and friends, takes no time to beat Nicky and threaten him to leave the village. But Nicky refuses and stays there for more dramas.

In an interview with Daily Mirror, Lewis Cope revealed that he is from an extended family. He still lives in the house with his grandmother, who was happier than anyone in the family when he got a role in Emmerdale.
Cope is one of 14 children in the family including including 13 nieces and nephews. Unlike Cope, his three brothers Adam, Danny, and Peter are professional fighters who have won northern area titles.
When ITV’s Lorraine asked Cope how it feels to be around the house at Christmas, he replied, “Lovely, yeah. I love it!”
He has not given more family details. Perhaps he wants to keep it private for some time.
