Grey’s Anatomy Actress Kim Raver Honors Her European Mixed Ethnicity

Kim Raver was raised by her mother, Tina Raver and stepfather Chris Meltesen.

Kim Raver is a reputed American actress known for appearing in TV series, including Grey’s Anatomy, Third Watch, and 24. Based on her parents’ lineage, Raver has a European Ethnicity. 

Born in 1969, Kim Raver grew up in New York City and attended Boston University, where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama.

Raver started acting at 6 through the children’s TV show Sesame Street in 1975 and remained there for three years.

In her initial adult career, she acted in several commercials, including Visa and Jeep. Then, she made a theater debut through a play, Holiday, in 1995.

In the following years, Raver also appeared in the feature film City Hall.

Her notable roles include Kimberly “Kim” Zambrano in Third Watch and Audrey Raines in 24. Besides, she also starred in ABC’s TV series The Nine (2006) and NBC’s Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009).

Finally, Kim Raver received her breakthrough role of Dr. Teddy Altman in a medical TV series, Grey’s Anatomy Season 6. Dr. Teddy Altman is a cardiothoracic surgeon who works with Dr. Owen Hunt in Iraq.

Raver worked in the series for two seasons from January 2010 to May 2012 and left it.

In 2014, she rejoined 24: Live Another Day to reprise her role of Audrey Boudreau. Also, she returned to Grey’s Anatomy in 2017 and has become a regular character.

Though Kim Raver is American, she is of mostly German, English, and also Swiss-German ethnicity.

Raver’s father was born in Maryland and had English, some German, and Swiss-German ancestors. However, Kim’s mother, Tina Raver, is German-American.

Tina has a brother, Robert Eduard Baensch, a publisher in America.

Toward her paternal side, Kim’s grandfather is Milson Carroll Raver Sr., who was born to Carroll Guy Raver and Grace S. Wamaling.

Again, Carroll’s parents were Mary and J. Franklin Raver. Finally, Grace was the child of Agnes F. Jones and Robert L. Wamaling.

Kim’s paternal grandmother was Kathleen Moore, born to Edith West and James Virgil Moore (son of Isaac James Moore and Jannie/Jane Phillips). Furthermore, Kathleen lived in Denton, Maryland.

Kim has a maternal grandfather, Willy Albrecht Eduard Baensch, born in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

On the other hand, Kim’s maternal grandmother, Yma Hilda L. Stoehr, was born to Hans Stoehr and Lottie. Hilda lived in Germany.
